Surgeons Report "Snapchat Dysmorphia" On The Rise

posted by Peter Cheng -

Plastic surgeons are reportedly seeing an increase in patients suffering from "Snapchat dysmorphia." New research from the Boston University School of Medicine says more people have been asking doctors to make them look like their filtered Snapchat selfies.  A 2017 survey found that 55% of patients sought plastic surgery so they could look better in selfies.  That's a 13% increase from last year.  Researchers noted that it's often impossible for people to look like their filtered selfies and the apps are "blurring the line of reality and fantasy."
