Actor Roger E. Mosley, best known for his role as Theodore 'T.C.' Calvin on the CBS hit show Magnum P.I., died early Sunday (August 7) at the age of 83, his daughter, Ch-a Mosley, confirmed in a tribute on her Facebook account via NBC News.
“Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your ‘coach Mosley’ your ‘TC’ from Magnum P.I., passed away at 1:17am,” Ch-a Mosley wrote. “He was surrounded by family as he transcended peacefully. We could never mourn such an amazing man. He would hate any crying done in his name. It is time to celebrate the legacy he left for us all. I love you daddy. You loved me too. My heart is heavy but I am strong. I will care for mommy, your love of almost 60 years. You raised me well and she is in good hands. Rest easy.”
Mosley appeared in 158 episodes alongside Tom Selleck's title character in the popular 1980s series, while also making a cameo in the 2018 CBS reboot of Magnum P.I., playing the barber of the character he originated.
The Los Angeles native made his film debut with small roles in Cannon and Longstreet before later landing the role of Monk in Terminal Island, which also featured Selleck.
Mosley acted in a number of roles before his time on Magnum P.I. playing Calvin, a helicopter pilot who worked for the tourist charter business "Island Hoppers," having also directed and written an episode of the series.
