In the closely-watch race for Honolulu prosecutor, Steve Alm was the winner in the Hawaii primary election on Saturday, besting second place Megan Kau by more than 35,000 total votes.
Jacquie Esser finished in third place and current acting city prosecutor Dwight Nadamoto was fourth.
Alm and Kau are both seeking to permanently replace current, but suspended, city prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro. Kaneshiro, who did not run, has remained on paid administrative leave from the office of prosecutor for over a year amid a federal investigation.
