No, A Little Caesars Was Not Serving Frozen DiGiorno Pizzas

A user on Twitter sparked a firestorm after capturing a video that appeared to show a woman with a cart full of frozen DiGiorno pizzas standing near the kitchen of Little Ceasars. The video quickly went viral and was even retweeted by supermodel Chrissy Teigen, who declared it was "the only little caesars I wanna go to."

DiGiorno decided to get in on the fun, tweeting: "We if we told you that...We have no idea what’s going on. All we know is that we’ve watched this no less than 128 times."

Little Ceasars was forced to launch an investigation into the video and determined that it was just "a funny coincidence" and confirmed that "Little Caesars only serves freshly baked pizzas made from fresh dough."

In a statement to PEOPLE, the pizza chain explained that a K-Mart employee was placing the frozen pizzas in a cooler that happened to be adjacent to the pizza joint.

The representative for Little Caesars tells PEOPLE that upon further investigation, the person in the video was identified as a Kmart employee and “no DiGiorno pizzas were baked or served at this Little Caesars location,” they said in a statement. “On that day, K-Mart received a few complaints from customers about having purchased expired DiGiorno pizzas from that location, and because it was so close to closing time, the K-Mart manager directed his employee to temporarily store them in a cooler adjacent to the Little Caesars location for disposal in the morning.”
